The Guyana Police Force (GPF), Camptown and Beacons secured contrasting wins, when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA), 2017/2018 Premier League commenced on Sunday.
Played at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda, GPF riddled Riddim Squad 4-1. The contest was effectively over at the halftime break, as the lawmen romped to a 3-0 lead.
Kester Dundas, Dwayne Jacobs and Shemar Fraser were on target in the 31st, 37th and 41st minute respectively, before Travis Jones completed the rout with a 90th+2 minute conversion.
Amos Ramsay recorded a consolation goal in the 76th minute. Also, Camptown overcame Pele 2-1. Richie Richards netted twice in the 52nd and 62nd minute. For Pele, Lloyd Anderson scored in the 85th minute.
Meanwhile, Beacons humbled Black Pearl 4-1. Deron Bowen bagged a double in the 25th and 40th minute, while Quason McAulay tallied a brace in the 32nd and 50th minute.
Action will continue on Friday at the same facility. GPF will match skills with Flamingo at 18:00hrs while Northern Rangers will lock horns with Camptown in the always entertaining ‘Kitty/Campbellville’ derby.
On Sunday a tripleheader will also be staged at the same location, with GFC tackling Black Pearl at 16:00hrs, and Riddim Squad opposing Beacons at 18:00hrs. The final fixture will pit Pele against Santos from 20:00hrs.
