Dear Editor,
I had a surprise visit two days ago after a long illness from the Prime Minister’s wife, Mrs Sita Nagamootoo. She was here on the Essequibo Coast, after being invited to the Queenstown slave ship church anniversary with Minister of Public Health Ms Volda Lawrence. I received a telephone call from Mr Karan Chand, the Prime Minister’s representative in Region Two, saying that the PM’s wife would like to meet with me. I was happy for her visit and I accepted it. This was the second time that I had met with her. The first being when I received an award at the Anna Regina Multilateral school from PM Moses Nagamootoo, for outstanding community work in my region. The meeting was planned between us for 1 pm, however, because of her busy schedule she arrived late at home with her party. She came into my bedroom where I was lying, we began to talk and she told me that the PM wanted her to present a gift to me which she brought.
We took pictures and I thanked her for the gift before she departed for the ceremony at Queenstown. I later learnt that she had to hurry back to Georgetown without completing her mission.
Yours faithfully,
Mohamed Khan
