Team Christina Jardim was crowned the ‘We Believe Cup’ Futsal Champions, crushing Yvette Bunbury 7-2 in the finale on Tuesday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
The inaugural event was staged to promote Breast Cancer Awareness, with the competing teams being named after Cancer Survivors. It was the Lakeisha Pearson show in the title clash witnessed by a sizable crowd, with the dynamic forward recording an impressive five goals to seal the outcome.
Pearson recorded two goals in the first half, before returning in the second period to fashion a further three conversions, singlehandedly settling the contest.
With the five goals, Pearson ended the contest on 18 conversions, in the process copping the Highest Goal Scorer accolade and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophy.
