A 19-year-old West Ruimveldt resident died after the motorcycle he was riding yesterday afternoon slammed into a pick-up truck.
According to the police, Ronaldo Jaundoo was riding his motorcycle on the northern side of James Street proceeding east when he slammed into the truck that was travelling north along Barr Street.
The truck, GVV 8249, which is owned by the National Insurance Scheme and was being driven by Michael Clarke reportedly stopped before crossing the intersection of James and Barr streets.
The police related to Stabroek News last night that Clarke explained that he had stopped before driving over the road and he did not notice the motorcycle with Jaundoo approaching him. However, when the man was halfway over the road he noticed the motorcycle and applied his brakes. Jaundoo slammed into the vehicle and flew several feet off the bike.
He was picked up in an unconscious state and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
