A miner, who was allegedly transporting two bags of rice filled with cannabis, was arrested yesterday morning at the Bartica stelling.
He has been identified as Kevon Mayers, 24, of Blueberry Hill, Linden.
Stabroek News understands that ranks conducted a search on Mayers, who was an incoming passenger at the Bartica stelling, when they unearthed the illegal drugs, which were concealed in the bags he was carrying.
He was taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the parcels were weighed. They amounted to 865 grammes.
Mayers is expected to be charged in the new week.
