The family of a 22-year-old teacher of Richard Ishmael Secondary is seeking answers after she was found unconscious on the side of the road in the vicinity of Princes Street and Louisa Row, Georgetown yesterday morning.
Kescia Branche, a mother of one, of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, is currently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Georgetown Public Hospital nursing head injuries and a broken foot.
Her father, Alfred Branche told Stabroek News that his daughter is currently battling for her life and is on a life support machine.
The elder Branche told Stabroek News that his daughter was last seen at a local night spot during a Saturday night outing. He stated that his daughter is an outgoing person.
According to the father, the family is clueless as to what transpired after she left the night spot. He said at around 7 yesterday morning they received a telephone call informing them of the tragedy. “The person called and said they found her in an unconscious state and took her to the hospital… she remains in an unconscious state,” he said.
The father added that based on the doctor’s explanation the injuries his daughter suffered after performing scans are consistent with blows to the head.
“We don’t know what happened but we have our suspicious. It had to be someone took her there because she does not live in that direction. We don’t know if she went willingly … but it looks as if she was in an altercation with someone,” the father explained.
He stated that a report was made to the police and they are investigating. However, they are asking persons to contact them on telephone numbers: 592-644-3857, 592-677-8733 if they have any information that can provide clarity on what transpired.
