(Trinidad Express) The owner of a Port of Spain pharmacy appeared in court yesterday charged with five offences of grievous sexual assault.
Pharmacist Ramdhanie Ramnath, 66, was granted $350,000 bail on the charges.
His co-defendant Akeem Worrell, 27, who was charged with the same offences, was denied bail.
Ramnath is of Bayshore, Westmoorings and Worrell, 27, lives in Enterprise, Chaguanas.
The arrests of the men were made after the women reported being raped at a pharmacy.
The women said that in 2014 and 2015, they went to the pharmacy expecting to be interviewed for a job.
While being interviewed, the women said a man with a gun would enter and announce a robbery.
The women reported that they would be robbed by the gunman who would force them to have sex with another man at gunpoint.
The defendants were not called upon to plea when the cases were called before Port of Spain Magistrate Adia Mohammed.
Worrel’s bail request was refused as he had similar matters pending in the Chaguanas Magistrates’ court.
As part of his bail conditions, Ramnath was ordered to stay 500 feet away from the alleged victims.
The matters were adjourned to December 5.
