The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) over the weekend earned another win in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), New Building Society (NBS) second-division limited overs tournament by defeating the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) by 246 runs.
GYO, after winning the toss, invited GCC to take first strike which saw the Bourda club piling up a mammoth 337 for 5 from the game reduced to 35 overs-a-side.
Batsmen Khemraj Jaikarran (87) and Martin Bell (72), hammered fifties to down GYO. Both men struck eight fours and two sixes in their innings.
Gavin Singh (49), Jousha Wade (46 not out), Ronaldo Mohammed (31), and Marlon Persaud (26) all chipped in to aid GCC’s cause.
Off – Spinner Darshan Persaud claimed three wickets for GYO who, in reply, were bundled out for 91 with Persaud returning to score 31 as spin duo Devon Lord (4-27) and Chetram Persaud (3-4) claimed seven wickets between them to wreck the innings.
