Dear Editor,
I wish, as a citizen and a former parliamentarian, to make an appeal to the members of the National Assembly on both sides of the aisle.
Drawing a line on the past, each member should now pledge to
a) uphold and respect the dignity of parliament;
b) be always cognizant that the President, whoever she or he may be, performs at different times the role of Head of State and that of Head of Government; and
c) Strive at all times, to be a role model for the youth of Guyana, some of whom will be your successors in the National Assembly.
Yours faithfully,
Rashleigh E. Jackson
