(Barbados Nation) Former Teen Talent winner Betty Alicia Griffith-Payne, her sister Marie Alexa Griffith and Guyanese national Kwanza Ezra Canterbury were all remanded to prison after they appeared on drug charges in the District “C” St Matthias Magistrates’ Court today.
Griffith-Payne, 38, a clerical officer of Lot 8, Apt 1, West Terrace Heights, St James; her sister Griffith, a 35 year-old sales supervisor at Limegrove Lifestyle Centre and Guyanese Canterbury, 34, a carpenter of Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Guyana, were jointly charged with possession of 12.6 kilos cocaine; having a `traffickable’ quantity of the drug and having the drug with intent to supply on November 10. The drugs have a street value of Bds$625 000.
Griffith-Payne, Griffith and Canterbury were each charged with conspiring with other persons to traffic in a controlled drug between November 7 and 10, while the two sisters were jointly charged knowingly handling a controlled drug between November 9 and 10.
The three were remanded to HMP Dodds until Monday when they will appear in the Holetown Magistrates’ Court.
