Two 20-year-old men were yesterday brought before Magistrate Fabayo Azore to answer a robbery charge.
The charge stated that Morgan Rose and Jerome Smartt, at the Avenue of the Republic on November 13th, stole a Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued at $110,000 and a chain valued at $5,000, property of Anthony Gangaram.
Rose, of Goedverwagting, and Smartt, of C Field, Sophia, both pleaded not guilty to the charge.
They were granted bail in the sum of $65,000 each. Smartt and Rose asked for the court to be reasonable as they could not pay that amount of bail. Smartt stated that he is not permanently employed and only has his father who is a pensioner.
Rose stated that he is a single father and sells mints and cigarettes for a living and pleaded for the bail to be reduced.
Magistrate Azore denied their request for bail reduction and adjourned the matter to December 6th.
