Pouderoyen needled Mahaica Determinators 1-0 to seal their semifinal berth when the inaugural Turbo Energy Drink knockout football competition continued Thursday at the Ministry of Education ground.
Versatile forward Esan Nelson settled the contest in the 103rd minute.
A brilliant right-side cross from Lexroy Manfield was allowed to fall between the centre-halves by the advancing goalkeeper which allowed Nelson, who was lurking inside the penalty area, to simply flick the ball into the empty net.
Moments before Eion Abel spurned a glorious opportunity to give the East Coast Demerara unit the lead.
Sprinting onto a long ball that evaded the backline, Abel was denied by the outstretched right leg of onrushing custodian Sherwin Bernard inside the center of the penalty box.
The resulting save commenced a counterattack, which led to Pouderoyen scoring the winning goal.
Meanwhile, Camptown edged Linden unit Silver Shattas 7-6 on sudden death penalty kicks, after regulation and extra time ended 1-1.
Jermaine Samuels opened the scoring for the visitors with a 13th minute strike, while Wayne Sharples equalised for the eventual winner in the 85th minute.
Pouderoyen and Camptown now join Grove Hi-Tech and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in the semi-final stage.
Winner of the event will receive $500,000 and the championship trophy while the runners-up will pocket $250,000 and the corresponding accolade while the third and fourth place finishers will receive $125,000 and $75,000 respectively and trophies.
Teams eliminated from the competition so far are Winners Connection, Eagles, Northern Rangers, GFC, Santos, Uitvlugt, Kuru-Kururu, Pele and Riddim Squad. The event is coordinated by the Petra Organization.
