A vendor was yesterday granted bail after he was charged with chopping his former partner several times on one of her hands.
Isaiah Corlette denied the charge that on October 16, at King Edward Street, Albouystown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Neketa Jordan.
The charge was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman in Georgetown.
Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves, who noted that Corlette and Jordan once had a relationship and share two children, said that on the day of the alleged attack there was an argument between them. He added that Corlette abused Jordan with a series of expletives and subsequently dealt her several chops to one of her hands.
Corlette, however, said that Jordan attacked him with a bottle and also that he told her that he would be willing to pay for the medical bills relating to her hand.
Jordan, when asked by the magistrate if she wished to tell her side of the story, said she was willing to drop the charges if Corlette pays for her medical bills, since she has to undergo surgery on her wounded hand.
Nevertheless, Magistrate Latchman granted the accused his release on $100,000 bail and adjourned the matter until November 27.
