Randy Smith, 17, of West Ruimveldt, is now a remanded prisoner after being charged with assaulting a senior citizen.
Smith was yesterday brought to the court of Georgetown Magistrate Leron Daly to answer to the charge that on October 8th, at Chapel Street, Lodge, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded 67-year-old Leon George.
On the day in question, George was cleaning a yard when Smith allegedly threw a full bottle of water at him, hitting him on his back. George was also dealt a blow to his ankle with a steel pipe.
However, Smith pleaded not guilty. He told the court that he was only at the house because his fiancée lives there and he sleeps over sometimes. The young man also said that he does not attend school but works.
Magistrate Leron Daly subsequently remanded Smith to prison and adjourned the matter until November 27th.
