Action in the GT BEER/BFA/Candy Boss Berbice eight-a-side football competition will continue this evening with two matches at the All Saints School Ground, New Amsterdam.
Three more matches are carded with Orealla ‘A’ squaring off with Golden Stars in the first game starting at 19:00 hours. Soccer City and Rosignol United will collide in the second fixture while the feature game of the night will bring together Arsenal “A’ and Orealla Falcons.
Meanwhile, last Sunday Beacon FC disposed of Arsenal 4-1. Scoring for Beacon were Delon Cadogan, Christian Galloway, Kimba Braitwaite and Shevas Lyken while Keen Williams netted the lone goal for Arsenal.
The night also saw Georgetown Police chalking up their second win. Kester Douglas scored the game’s lone goal in the in the 45th minute against Mahaicony FC 1-0. Young Strikers of Manchester inflicted a 3-0 drubbing of Edinburgh Gunners who had won their two previous matches. Striking for the Strikers were Ester Collins who scored in the 15 minute, Marcello Reis, 29th minute and Sherwin Nicholas almost on the stroke of half-time. Young Strikers are on three points from two games.
Thee matchers were also carded for last Friday at the same venue but the scores will be published in a subsequent article.
Tournament leaders Georgetown Police were down to meet Black Sharks of Fyrish.
The Sharks played their second game following their draw against Mahaicony FC in the opening night of the tournament while Police took the field for the third time having taken full points from their previous two encounter. The second game saw Orealla ‘A’ taking on Mahaica Determinators FC. Mahaica made their first appearance in the tournament while Orealla were engaged in their second encounter.
Also last Friday, Orealla ‘B’ (Siparuta) played Berbice Police who are almost assured a place in the knockout phase of the tournament.
