Police at Leguan, Region 3 (Essequibo Islands/ West Demerara) are investigating reports of a shooting from the home of an AFC official on Saturday.
The shooting occurred at around 9.45pm at Amsterdam, Leguan.
A police source told Stabroek News that a report was made to the Leguan police station by three men who were fishing at sea. According to the report made, the men said while they were fishing two shots were fired in their direction.
The police said after a report was made they went to home of the AFC official, who is also the chairman of the community policing group but calls went unanswered. Stabroek News gathered that the police returned to the home yesterday morning but were unable to contact the official for a second time. This newspaper was told that investigators of the ‘G’ Division headquarters (Essequibo Coast and Islands) would visit the island today to carry out further investigations.
