Defending champion Guyana Police Force (GPF) will battle Winners Connection of Linden in the Hamilton Green Cup football final following semi-final wins on Sunday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden.
The officers made light work of Soesdyke Falcons 5-1. Falling behind to a Collin McLean strike in the 28th minute, the lawmen recorded five unanswered goals, led by a four-goal blitz in the second half.
Recording the equaliser in the 30th minute through Sharma Fraser, GPF secured the contest compliments of goals from Quincy Holder, Rawle Haynes, Stephon Ramsay and Philbert Moffat in the 47th, 66th, 80th and 89th minute correspondingly.
In the other semi-final, Winners Connection downed Milerock 3-1. Keon Sears bagged a brace in the 21st and 35th minute, while Deron Dainty netted in the 64th minute.
On target in the loss was Kester Randolph in the 71st minute. The respective losers will face-off in the third place playoff.
The eventual victor of the tournament will receive $500,000 and the Minister of Citizenship Trophy. Meanwhile, the runners-up will pocket $250,000 and the Busta Trophy.
The third place finisher will collect $150,000 and the John Fernandes accolade, while the fourth place outfit will walk away with $100,000 and the Cummings Electrical Trophy.
