Gun-toting bandits on Tuesday evening robbed a former reporter of her car and other valuables, moments after she and a friend arrived at a popular night spot in Kitty, Georgetown.
Stabroek News understands that the incident occurred around 8pm on Tuesday outside of the Night Cap restaurant located on Pere Street, Kitty.
The men managed to escape with a Toyota Allion motor car, PVV 4879 belonging to Nadine Luthers-Williams and other valuables including important documents, two cell phones and a quantity of cash.
Reports revealed that Luthers-Williams and her friend had just arrived outside the restaurant when they were held at gunpoint and instructed to hand over their valuables and exit the car.
Luthers-Williams explained to Stabroek News that she left Diamond, East Bank Demerara and picked up her friend in Georgetown before they journeyed to the restaurant.
Upon arriving there, she said she parked the car and her friend exited while she gathered her belongings to place into her hand bag. During this process, she noticed a male standing in front her friend who had already exited the car and was waiting on her.
“I saw somebody standing infront her but I said it was probably some one of her friend that she didn’t see a while and they were talking”, she said.
Subsequently, Luthers-Williams said she was greeted by a gun. “I was seated in the car and I just notice the gun appear in front my face and the bandit told me not to say anything or he will shoot me, so I just remain silent after I realize what was happening and I comply with his order and handover everything”, she explained.
The men sped away from the scene in the car.
An alarm was raised and a report was made to the police who are in the process of reviewing surveillance footage in an effort to identifying the suspects.
