The 4th edition of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) ‘Road to Mecca’ Club Championship, commences today at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.
In the opening fixture, Dyna’s Ravens will oppose Rosehall Town Jammers at 17:00hrs, while the second clash will pit defending champion Bounty Colts against Half Mile Bulls from 19:00hrs.
In the final fixture, Victory Valley Royals will match skills with Plaisance Guardians at 21:00hrs.
Prior to the start of the first match, a March Past featuring all ten competing clubs will take place from 15:00hrs.
The event which is slated to conclude on December 24th, will feature teams from the Georgetown, Berbice and Linden Amateur Basketball Associa-tions.
Representing Georgetown are Colts, Ravens, Kobras, Plaisance Guardians and Pacesetters.
The Linden contingent will comprise of Half Mile Bulls, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Retrieve Raiders and Victory Valley Royals. The lone representative from the Ancient County is the Rose Hall Town Jammers club.
The competing teams are split into two groups of five, with the resulting group winners and runners-up advancing to the semi-final round.
The eventual finale will be contested using a best of three format.
Group-1 features Colts, Ravens, Amelia’s Ward, Jammers and Half Mile Bulls, while Group-2 consists of Royals, Pacesetters, Raiders, Guardians and Kobras.
