(Trinidad Express) A Canadian citizen on vacation in his homeland was found murdered in Ste Madeleine yesterday morning.
Vishnu Narine, 56, was discovered dead near the Usine Ste Madeleine pond.
The body bore marks of violence, police said.
Narine, who had been living in Ontario, Canada, had been on vacation in Trinidad for several weeks. He had been staying at Church Street, St Charles Village.
His relatives told police that on Thursday night he left home with $10,000 and was dropped off at Starlite Recreation Club in Palmyra.
Shortly before 8 a.m. an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture stumbled upon the body and contacted authorities.
A district medical officer examined the body and ordered it removed for an autopsy. The killing took the homicide toll to 446 according to an Express tally.
Two years ago the body of La Romaine mother Cheryl Mohammed, who was killed for her cash, was also discovered at that location.
Mohammed, 55, had been bequeathed a large sum of money and left home in October 2015 to collect and cash the cheque.
Police found out that Mohammed had contacted an ex-boyfriend to take her to the credit union. She was seen entering the man’s station wagon. The vehicle was also captured on the credit union’s closed circuit cameras.
The case remains unsolved.
