Pacesetters, Victory Valley Royals (VVR) and Ravens all won their matches when the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) ‘Road to Mecca’ Club Championship, continued Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue. Pacesetters downed Retrieve Raiders 85-57. Sheldon Legall top scored for Pacesetters with 24 points. He also had eight rebounds and four steals.
Lending support were Travis Williams, Joslyn Crawford and Nathan Saul, who tallied 14, 12 and 10 points respectively while randy Richardson chipped in with eight points, eight rebounds and five steals. For Retrieve Raiders, Kareem Roberts, Neil Marks and Travis Sutton scored 14, 11 and 10 points respectively.
Meanwhile, Royals defeated Kobras 77-55. Harold Adams tallied 22 points and Yannick Tappin 16 points, 11 rebounds and four steals.
Chipping in with nine and eight points respectively were Israel Waldron and Alwyn Rodney. For Kobras, Travis Burnett contributed 18 points and six steals and Jermaine Slater nine points and 16 rebounds. Assisting with seven points and five rebounds each were Mark Richards and Carlos Edwards.
In another fixture, Ravens edged Amelia’s Ward Jets 82-78. Ryan Stephney scored 30 points and had five rebounds and three steals while Darcel Harris supported with 15 points and five steals.
Tyrone Hamid chipped in with a double-double of 10 points and as many rebounds while Sebastian Luke added 10 points and five rebounds and Owan Walton eight points. For Jets, Donel Benjamin battled to 20 points.
The next best scorer with 14 points was Sean Muss, while Neil Simon added 11 points, five rebounds and Orin Rose netted 11 points. Adrian Webster contributed nine points and 14 rebounds.
The tournament which is sponsored by Banks DIH under the Coca-Cola and Powerade brands, will continue at the same venue tomorrow.
