A gold miner was yesterday granted bail after he was accused of being in possession of three pounds of cannabis.
Elwin Wilson, 26, of 13 Section Christianburg, Linden, is accused of having in his possession 1418 grammes of cannabis (equivalent to three pounds), on December 1, at Seven Kilometres Police Outpost.
Wilson denied the allegation.
According to Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield, the narcotics were found under the vehicle, inside of a spare wheel.
Attorney Keoma Griffith, who represented the accused, told the court that the vehicle had multiple occupants, including passengers his client didn’t know.
He then requested reasonable bail for Wilson.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan then granted the accused $250,000 bail and adjourned the matter to December 22, when it will be called at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
