The Kaneville, East Bank Demerara machine operator Ishwar Ramanah, who was shot minutes after midnight on Wednesday by armed bandits, remains in the hospital but is showing signs of recovery.
A relative of the man last night said he remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the hospital but has shown signs of improvement. The relative said that Ramanah is under observation for 72 hours before his condition can be cleared.
Ramanah also known as ‘’Jack’, a father of one of Macaw Drive, Kaneville, EBD, was shot once in his abdomen.
After being admitted to the hospital he underwent a six-hour-long surgery.
Police in a statement said the shooting occurred about 12.10 am on Wednesday during which two armed men relieved Ramanah of a gold chain valued $40,000.
A police source said that they are searching for a known character who they believe could help with the investigation.
