The contracts for three presidential advisors will not be renewed and they have since been offered executive positions, President David Granger revealed yesterday.
Granger did not state when the contracts for Presidential Advisor on Youth Empowerment, Aubrey Norton; Presidential Advisor on Security; Brigadier (retired) Edward Collins and Presidential Advisor on the Environment, Rear Admiral (retired) Gary Best came to an end.
Noting that the trio was hired as advisors shortly after government took office in May 2015, Granger told reporters during a press conference held at the Ministry of the Presidency that “that advisory function has more or less come to an end and we have asked for them to accept executive functions. So yes we wouldn’t need them in the role of advisors but we are likely to appoint them in executive roles. That is being worked out”.
No information was provided on the proposed executive functions.
