Mackenzie High, Linden Technical Institute (LTI) and Plaisance Secondary were amongst the wins, when the 7th edition of the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) ‘Titan Bowl’ commenced on Friday.
Staged at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, Mackenzie High dismissed St. Roses High 68-42.
Yannick Tappin recorded 21 points in the rout, while Shemar Henry added 12 points, 11 rebounds and Kevlon Cadogan scored 12 points.
For the loser, Kwesi Roberts tallied 11 points, five rebounds, while Anthony Yansen scored 11 points.
Mackenzie High then defeated Marian Academy 39-28. Tappin once again was the main threat with figures of 21 points, seven rebounds and as many steals.
For Marian Academy, Jahleel Younge recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, whilst Jether Harris added seven points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Plaisance defeated President’s College 43-37. Nigel Bowen tallied 16 points, five steals, while Andrew Johnson supported with 14 points.
On the other end, Akeem Crandon accumulated 16 points and 20 rebounds. He was assisted Richard Semple, who scored eight points.
Also, LTI downed Kwakwani Secondary 42-31. Dillon Pelew and Jamal Gilkes led the victors with nine points and seven rebounds apiece.
On the other side, Daniel Houston recorded eight points, eight rebounds, while Isaiah Hintzen supported with seven points and 10 rebounds.
In other results, the Bishop’s High edged President’s College 28-27. Royden Glasgow top scored with nine points for the Carmichael Street unit.For the loser, Crandon tallied 13 points and as many rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kwakwani Secondary downed Government Technical Institute (GTI) 51-44. David Conway and Kadeem Dover recorded nine and eight points apiece in the win.For GTI, Rafon Griffith tallied nine points.
In the Girls Section, President’s College crushed Mackenzie High 21-6. Saffiya Greene top scored in the win with eight points and 10 rebounds. Rockel Agard netted four points in the loss.
The event resumes today at the same venue.
