Ishwar Ramanah, the Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, machine operator who was shot in his abdomen after gunmen invaded his home last Wednesday, continues to battle for his life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
A relative yesterday told Stabroek News that the man remains in the ICU under observation. She explained that Ramanah has to be fed through tubes and is only able to take sips at intervals.
The relative added that he is still being monitored closely by doctors.
Asked if they had heard from the police since the night of the armed robbery, the relative said police informed them that they carried out raids in the area but no suspect has been held.
Police in a statement said the shooting occurred about 12.10 am on Wednesday during which two armed men relieved Ramanah of a gold chain valued $40,000.
A police source had said that they are searching for a known character who they believe could help with the investigation.
