Visitors to the Giftland Mall will be expected to pay a $3,000 “redeemable concession fee” upon entry effective this weekend as part of attempts to limit the number of “holiday limers” at the shopping complex.
Not only is this the second year that the Giftland Mall has decided to implement the entrance fee, but the amount has increased by $2000 from 2016.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that like last year, the decision was made to ensure that persons who are there to shop are accommodated in an environment that is both safe and comfortable during the busy Christmas season.
It was explained that families would not be required to pay the redeemable concession fee at the entrance.
Important to note, is that the $3,000 paid will be redeemable at any of the stores in the mall.
