Beacons FC and Monedderlust stormed their way into the semifinal round of the GT Beer Berbice 8-aside Football Championship, crushing Golden Stars and Arsenal respectively, on Sunday.
Hosted at the Scott’s School ground, New Amsterdam (NA), Beacons made light work of Golden Stars, winning by a 4-0 scoreline in a lopsided affair.
It was the Deon Alfred show, as the diminutive attacker recorded a hat-trick to ensure his team’s passage to the final four stage.
Alfred opened the scoring in the 19th minute, before emerging star Travis Lyken doubled the advantage with a 30th minute shot.
The scoreline ballooned once more, as Alfred recorded his second moments later in the 30th+1 minute.
The scoreline was completed in the 57th minute, as Alfred clinched a deserved hat-trick.
Meanwhile, Monedderlust FC crushed Arsenal 2-0 led by the sibling duo of Kelvin and Jamal Joseph.
The older Kelvin Joseph broke the deadlock via a 19th minute conversion. Not to be outdone, Jamal Joseph sealed the win, via a 25th+1 minute conversion.
The tournament resumes on Friday, December 22nd at the same venue with the final two quarterfinal matches.
In the opening match at 19:30hrs, Georgetown Police will take aim at Rosignol United. The second match will pit Edinburgh Gunners against Black Sharks from 21:00hrs.
