The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) ‘Super 16 Year-end Classic’, will resume today at the Buxton Community Ground, East Coast Demerara with a doubleheader.
In the opening match of the evening, Victoria Kings will match skills with the dangerous Guyana Police Force at 18:00hrs. The feature affair of the night will pit home side Buxton United, against Berbice outfit New Amsterdam United from 21:00hrs.
The event continues tomorrow at a venue to be announced.
The evening’s opening clash will witness West Ruimveldt based Western Tigers battling East Bank of Demerara giant Grove Hi-Teach from 18:30hrs.
In the feature match scheduled from 20:30hrs, Tucville-based heavyweight Fruta Conquerors, will lock horns with East Coast of Demerara side Ann’s Grove.
Presently, Linden teams Milerock and Winners Connection, as well as tournament favourite the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Den Amstel have earned their positions in the quarterfinal section.
Milerock mauled Cougars FC 3-0, while Winners Connection overcame Camptown FC 4-3 on penalty kicks. Similarly, the army unit outflanked Pouderoyen FC 1-0, while Den Amstel squeaked past Indigenous All-Stars 2-1.
The event which is being sponsored by Top Brandz Distributors under the Corona Beer Brand, comprises 16 teams competing in a knockout format.
January 1st is slated for the championship match at the National Stadium, Providence. Winner of the event will pocket $2,000,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up will collect $1,000,000 and the respective accolade.
On the other hand, the third and fourth place finishers will walk away with $500,000 and $250,000 correspondingly.
