A Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara (WCD) farmer and his wife were on Thursday afternoon attacked and robbed of $1M by two bandits on a CG motorcycle shortly after making a withdrawal at a bank.
Stabroek News understands that during the attack which occurred around 12.15 pm, the bandits, one of whom was armed with a handgun discharged a warning shot in the air before relieving fifty-one-year-old Ramahdar Singh of Lot 4 Railway Line, Windsor Forest, WCD of the cash.
They also managed to escape with his wife, Pranpattie Singh’s handbag and her cell phone.
Reports revealed that the couple went to the Republic Bank (Guyana) Ltd’s, Vreed-en-Hoop branch in order to withdraw the cash after which they ran some errands in the area.
The Singhs then boarded a taxi for home. Upon their arrival, Ramahdar and the driver proceeded to the vehicle’s trunk in order to take out some items they had purchased when they were approached by the two men who discharged a round in the air.
The men then turned their attention to Ramahdar and his wife, who they relieved of the cash and other valuables.
The escaped on the said motorcycle.
No injury was reported.
