Kobras sealed their semi-final berth in the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) ‘Road to Mecca’ Club Championship, downing Retrieve Raiders 67-58 on Friday.
Hosted at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue, Travis Burnette recorded figures of 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the win.
He was assisted by Mark Richards output of 14 points, six rebounds, Carlos Edwards who tallied 12 points, eight rebounds, four steals and Kevin Evans who registered 10 points, eight rebounds.
Chipping in with nine and seven points each were Jermaine Samuels and Keith Tute. On the other side, Keon Cameron top scored with a game high 16 points.
Jason Alonzo was the next best scorer with 12 points, seven rebounds, while Travis Sutton battled to 11 points, four rebounds. Contributing eight points, five rebounds apiece were Marvin Hartman and Neil Marks.
Meanwhile, Amelia’s Ward Jets defeated Rose Hall Town Jammers 84-73. David Benjamin accumulated impressive figures of 24 points, four steals and four rebounds in the victory, while Sean Muss added 21 points.
Also tallying notable statistics of 14 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks and 13 points, four steals and as many rebounds were Adrian Webster and Akini Wilson respectively.
For the Berbicians, Michael King registered 21 points, six rebounds, while Mickel Lewis chipped in with 17 points, five steals. The next best scorers were Shamar France and Kevan Emanuel with nine and eight points each.
The trio of Perry Cort, Ezekiel Simon and Kwesi Mickel contributed six points each. The event resumes today at the same venue with the semi-final round.
Winner of the event will pocket $600,000 and the championship trophy, while the second place side will collect the runner-up trophy and $400,000.
The third place finisher will walk away with $200,000 and a trophy. On the individual side, prizes totaling $200,000 will be awarded for the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Overall Highest Point Scorer and Rebounder respectively.
Also, $100,000 of the Prize Monies will go to Guyana Basketball Officials Council (GBOC).
