Pouderoyen secured the largest margin of victory in the inaugural GT Beer Yearend Football Championship, swamping Zeelugt 14-0 in their quarterfinal matchup, on Tuesday at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground.
It was a field day for the boys from Pouderoyen, as seven different players etched their name on the scorer’s sheet, treating the large crowd to a goal fest.
Cleveland Walcott recorded a helmet-trick in the ninth, 14th, 49th and 65th minute, while Amoniki Buntin bagged a brace in the 19th and 24th minute.
Also scoring twice were Kwesi Alleyne in the 52nd and 60th minute, Anthony Harding in the 37th and 67th and Esan Nelson in the 63rd and 69th minute respectively.
Rounding out the lopsided scoreline were Marvin Frank and Darius McPherson, who scored in the 78th and 79th minute correspondingly.
Meanwhile, Uitvlugt Warriors battled past Wales FC 2-0. The clash was decided in the final 12 minutes, as Jamal Harvey and Daniel Floy netted.
Harvey opened the scoring compliments of a 78th minute conversion, while Floy put the game to bed, as he found the back of the net in the 85th minute.
The knockout event which will be played for a top prize of $400,000, features eight teams battling for a coveted spot in the January 7th finale.
The other teams that have been eliminated are Eagles United and Crane Rovers. The tourney will continue on January 3rd with the semi-final round.
In the opening clash, Pouderoyen will face-off with Uitvlugt at 18:30hrs, while Young Achievers will lock horns with home side Den Amstel FC from 20:30hrs in the main event.
Winner of the competition will receive $400,000 and the championship trophy, while the runner-up will pocket $200,000 and the corresponding accolade.
The third and fourth place finisher will walk away with $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
