Ministry awards $25m contract for completion of Kitty Market

The Ministry of Communities has awarded a $25 million contract for the rehabilitation of the Kitty Market.

According to the Department of Public Information the $25,120,480 contract awarded to BML Construction Services is a form of assistance from central government to the Georgetown municipality to complete phase I of the rehabilitation of the Kitty market. It is one of 32 contracts whose award was noted by Cabinet at its Sub-Committee meeting on Wednesday, December 27, 2017.

Work on the Kitty Market has been stalled for months despite various promises by the City Council that it would be completed. Vendors who had occupied the market have been dislocated for months.
