No. #72 Cut and Load and Crabwood Creek Sports Club secured convincing wins when the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association/Roy Baijnauth T20 Knockout Cricket Championship commenced on Sunday.
Over at the No. #72 Cut and Load ground, Cut and Load mauled No. #59 Youth and Sports Club (YSC) by 99 runs. Batting first, Cut and Load racked up a massive 174/3 runs in their allowed 20 overs.
Clavern Beresford top scored with an impressive 70 runs not out, while Davenand Chatterpaul and P. Joseph chipped in with 33 and 30 runs respectively.
Bowling for No. #59 YSC, Edwin Netehrandra recorded figures of 2-38 in his four over spell, while R. Sukwah registered 1-38 in his four overs.
In reply, No. #59 was bundled out for a paltry 75 runs by the spin bowling attack of the home side. Edwin Netehrandra was the only batsman in double figures with 11 runs.
For the winner, R. Omaperaaud tallied 3-21 in his four over spell, while D Chatterpaul added 2-14. Also contributing with the ball were C. Beresford with 1-15, M. Singh with 1-9 and R Persaud with 1-0.
Over at the No. #73 Young Warriors Cricket Club Ground, Crabwood Creek Sports Club, crushed the home side by 78 runs. Asked to bat first, the visitors recorded 151/9 in their allotted 20 overs.
Qadir Khan led the way with 37 runs, with N. Deo the next best scorer with 25 runs. Supporting with 17 and 12 runs correspondingly were T. Totaram and L. Seegobin.
Bowling for host, Odraj Singh was the pick of the lot with figures of 4-18, with Asad Mohammed supporting with numbers of 3-24 and Lakram Lathman snaring 2-19.
In their reply, No. #73 Young Warriors struggled in their pursuit of the sizable target, falling for a meagre 75 runs all out. Lathman smashed 33 runs in the noteworthy innings, while Singh battled to his 14 runs.
Captain D. Chalitar led with the ball for the visitors with impressive figures of 4-16. He was supported by M. Bhola, who recorded 2-18 in his spell.
