Issues with the output of X-ray images at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) have resulted in patients having to seek X-ray services at private facilities.
This was confirmed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GPHC retired Brigadier George Lewis, who in a brief interview with Stabroek News explained that the hospital has been relying on other health institutions to provide the service to patients over the last few days as a result of issues experienced with the imagining output of its X-ray machines.
And while he acknowledged that the GPHC is tasked with offering the service free of charge to patients, the CEO asked for patients to understand that such incidents can and do occur on occasions and that the hospital is trying its best to have them rectified in the shortest time possible.
In the meantime, Lewis stated that patients who do not require emergency X-rays will be attended to when the machines become operable, while those patients who have the wherewithal are free to independently seek X-ray services at private institutions.
