(Trinidad Express) Three men were killed in Manzanilla, and Fyzabad and Arima on Saturday night.
Ashram Persad, the proprietor of Dougie’s Bar, and a security guard at a plaza in Arima, were shot and killed during robberies at separate business places.
At around 7.45 p.m. Persad, 46, was in his bar at Manzanilla/Mayaro Road when two thieves, one with a firearm, stormed the business place.
Persad was shot in the stomach. The thieves took an undisclosed sum from the cash register.
As they made their escape, the thieves fired two more shots into the air.
Persad was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital where he died.
Minutes earlier, a security guard on duty at Omera Plaza in Arima was shot and killed by thieves during a robbery at the opened shopping complex.
And at around 11p.m. police were called to Gowers Well Road, Fyzabad where a man had been shot dead. Officers found the body of Andre Sydney, 24. Sydney, who lived at Pond Street, La Romaine, had been shot multiple times. Police say the killing is drug-related.
The killings took the murder toll to 28.
Two other men were shot in separate incidents in Tobago, and San Fernando.
Lorris Douglas also known as “Yellows” was shot in the chest at Hope Estate, Tobago.
He is warded at the Scarborough Regional Hospital.
And Nicholas Gajadhar was shot outside a building complex near the Mon Repos Police Station.
Gajadhar was standing outside Building 11 when a man dressed in a camouflage jacket and dark three quarter pants shot him in the head, chest and stomach at close range.
Gajadhar is listed in critical condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.
