A barber was yesterday granted $200,000 bail after he denied aiding persons to traffic 2.5 pounds of cocaine.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charge to Hosea Jacobs of Lot 1814 Unity Place, Festival City. The charge stated that between November 1st, 2017 and November 21st, 2017, at Georgetown, he aided persons in trafficking 1.178 kilogrammes (equivalent to 2.5 pounds) of cocaine.
Jacobs pleaded not guilty.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield made no objection to bail being granted but requested that the accused report to the Narcotics Branch of the Guyana Police Force until the completion of his trial.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan granted Jacobs his release on $200,000 bail and ordered that he report every Friday at 4pm to the Narcotics Branch.
The matter was then adjourned until January 31st, when it will be called before Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
