Several persons were yesterday taken into custody following the interception of a vessel transporting over one hundred barrels of suspected smuggled fuel in the Pomeroon River.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that the vessel was intercepted during an operation which was reportedly headed by officials of the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA).
The persons in custody are said to be Guyanese and Venezuelans nationals.
They are assisting the police with investigations.
