Dear Editor,
The Guyana Police Force is responding to a letter in the January 16 edition of the Stabroek News, under the caption ‘The PM has forgotten his former principles of frugality, – lean and clean government’ by Rohit Persaud.
The Force’s administration categorically wishes to apprise Mr Persaud of the fact that the details as to advance party, siren and the number of security personnel are always determined by the Head of the Presidential Guard and do not come within the Prime Minister’s assessment. This is the same security protocol extended to His Excellency’s security arrangement. The Head of the Presidential Guard is responsible for all the Heads of State and Prime Ministers’ safety and that of their family members.
These are the security measures in place for the Head of State and the Prime Minister of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana when they are attending public or private functions and at their residences.
Yours faithfully,
Paul Williams
Assistant Commissioner
