The Guyana Squash Association (GSA) has named a four-member team comprising two male and two female players to participate in the 2018 Commonwealth Games which runs from April 4th-15th in Gold Coast, Australia.
There are no major surpries in the squad which includes the leading names in Guyana’s squash sphere.
According to reports reaching Stabroek Sport, Mary Fung–A-Fat and Taylor Fernandes (the 2017 junior Caribbean squash champion)
will lead Guyana’s challenge in the female category while Sunil Seth and Jason Ray Khalil (who a few weeks ago defeated Nyron Joseph to cop the final spot) will compete amongst the best in the world for male honours.
The team will be coached by Ramon Chan0A-Sue, who will oversee the preparation of the team and add tactical support while in Australia.
As it relates to the preparation, Stabroek Sport was informed that the players are currently adding the finishing touches to their game for the highly competitive tournament. The players are set to assemble in the United States of America the week leading up to the games for one final preparatory camp as they aim to serve their way to championship honours while flying the Golden Arrowhead in Australia.
