A labourer was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with two counts of narcotics trafficking.
Leon Hussain, 31, of Cane Grove, East Coast Demerara, was arraigned before Magistrate Wanda Fortune in the Mahaica Magistrate’s Court.
Hussain was charged with possession of 14 grammes of cocaine for trafficking as well as possession of 134 grammes of cannabis for trafficking on January 18th, 2018.
Stabroek News was told that the illegal substances were found at Hussain’s home following a search carried out by police, who acted on information and went to the house.
Hussain, who pleaded not guilty, was remanded until February 16th, when his next hearing is scheduled.
Police said Hussain was charged in 2015 over a similar narcotics offence and a wounding in 2016.
