Western Tigers made a tremendous splash in the ongoing January Transfer [Winter Window], signing Daniel Wilson, Quason McAulay, Anthony Sancho and Rafael Edwards for the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Elite League.
According to Calvin Allen, head-coach of the West Ruimveldt giant, “They will definitely make an impact, we are strengthening in every area. We have a central defender, two midfielders and a forward.”
Golden Jaguars international Wilson formerly plied his trade for Alpha United while McAulay is remembered for his stint at Vergenoegen-based outfit Slingerz FC.
On the other hand, Edwards and Sancho were notable members of Fruta Conquerors and Northern Rangers respectively.
He added, “Rafael will complement the centre-half position while Daniel is a competent player in every regard who is very experienced. Anthony and Quason are forwards who can also play as wingers so adding them to the already strong front-line will only make the team more dangerous.”
Asked if the possibility exists of further signings before the window closes today, he added, “It is possible that we could do one or two more signings before the window closes. I would like to acquire another young defender and get another goalkeeper so the possibility still exists.”
Allen said he feels the acquisitions will have some impact on team performance.
“After watching the first two games we played, especially the GDF game, adding these four players to the roster will make a big difference. We brought in four players but it’s like signing six players because we will get back Hubert Pedro and Devon Millington.”
Western Tigers are currently unbeaten in the competition with one victory and a draw from two matches.
