Thirteen persons were arrested following raids by lawmen in Georgetown and on the East Bank of Demerara yesterday.
The raids, which were conducted for narcotics, stolen articles, arms and ammunition and wanted persons, were carried out between 12 pm and 6 pm.
Public Relations Officer Jairam Ramlakhan, in a brief statement last night, said that the raids were conducted in the East Bank Demerara villages of Friendship, Grove, Mocha, Providence, and at Broad Street in Georgetown.
In addition to the 13 persons who were held, police said two 32-inch flat screen televisions and 65 grammes of cannabis were found in an abandoned house at Broad Street.
Those in custody are being questioned in relation to different matters.
