Seven students from the South Ruimveldt Secondary School were held at gunpoint and robbed by two bicycle bandits yesterday.
The Guyana Police Force said last night that the attack occurred around 12.15 pm, when the group of students were in a shop at Macaw Lane, South Ruimveldt.
The students were robbed of cash, cellular phones and a Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming console.
According to the police, the students were at the shop to purchase snacks when the bandits rode up. The men went into the shop, held the students as gunpoint and ran through their pockets for valuables.
After relieving the students of their valuables, the bandits quickly exited the shop and escaped west of Macaw Lane.
Police said they are making efforts to view the surveillance footage from the CCTV cameras in the area.
