Suspects in Kaituma fuel dealer’s murder released on station bail

The six persons held for questioning in relation to the murder of Port Kaituma fuel dealer Khemraj were on Wednesday released on station bail.

Crime Chief Paul Williams told Stabroek News that the suspects, who included the widow of the deceased, were released after the expiration of the 72-hour period that police could detain them without charge.

He said while the investigation continues, the suspects are required to report to the police every day.

On Sunday, acting on information received, ranks of the Criminal Investigation Department arrested the six, who were transported to Georgetown for questioning.

Khemraj (only name given), a father of 12 of Canal Bank, Port Kaituma, Region One, died on October 3rd last year after he was shot several times at an area known as ‘Long Pond,’ Port Kaituma. The fatal attack occurred minutes after he had received a call from his suspected killer.
