A senior manager of Guyana Telephone and Telegraph was on Saturday night robbed upon his arrival at his Bent Street home minutes after visiting Scotia Bank on Robb Street.
Police told Stabroek News that the manager, Roderick Dyer, 43, of Bent Street Werk-en- Rust was attacked as he was about to enter his yard at around 8.30 pm.
Investigations revealed that Dyer had parked his vehicle on the southern side of Bent Street facing west. As he approached his yard, a lone gunman pounced on him from behind grabbed his neck and pointed a gun at him.
The gunman then relieved him of his valuables worth $210,000 and $30,000 cash. Dyer told police that he had stopped at the Scotia Bank, Robb Street Automated Teller Machine before heading home. After committing the act the suspect escaped on foot. No arrest has yet been made.
