Dear Editor,
In the final of the under 19 Word Cup in New Zealand, broadcaster Bishop, without obvious prodding, lectured his listeners on his belief expressed with great certainty, that India`s success had nothing to do with its huge population, but with systems.
For good measure he heaped praise on those parents who accompanied their children to the tournament, singling out for special praise, an Australian cricket official. I hope one of his objectives in his discussion of the importance of systems to Indian success was intended to benefit West Indies cricket. I am sure, however, he would have appreciated that it would have required enormous sacrifice, even if it were possible, for most parents to make the trip.
Yours faithfully,
Romain Pitt
