The Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) Sunday marched to a massive 115-run win over Third Class at their home ground, Woolford Avenue.
Winning the toss and batting first the home side posted 272 for six from 40 overs in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/New Building Society (NBS)second-division tournament.
Openers Yodeshter Persaud and Joseph Perry put on 49 runs before Persaud was run out by Andre Onicha for 20.
Perry (70) and Darshan Persaud (82) featured in a 125-run, second-wicket stand with Persaud blasting 10 fours and two maximums while Perry struck six fours. Treaton Liverpool wasted little time facing only three balls but sending two of them to the boundary while Dwayne Dick (35) hammered four sixes, three in succession off of Keon Bailey before being hit and forced to retire hurt.
Rohan Sarjoo continued the momentum with four fours on his way to an unbeaten 19. Bailey was the only bowler to find a rhythm picking up three wickets.
Chasing 273 was never easy but always in sight on a small GYO ground and Third Class was off to a bad start as sloppy batting from openers Randy Ramroop (10) and Bailey (21) saw both of them being stumped while Orlando Chinaswami and Errol King departed for three and four respectively.
Reeling with the fall of the four wickets, Alvin Castello (43) and Onicha (55 not out) threatened to bring it home but once Castello was bowled by Trevon France, wickets kept tumbling around Onicha as the visitors lost their way and the tail crumbled to Richard Hoyte who bagged four wickets and France who collected three.
