Defending champion Showstoppers, Hustlers, Rising Stars and ESPN were among the teams to secure quarterfinal berths when the round of 16 stage in the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ West Demerara zone concluded on Friday.
Played in front of a large crowd at the Pouderoyen Tarmac, Showstoppers downed Harmony Ballers 2-0 with Dexroy Adams and Stephon Jupiter scoring in the 14th and 17th minute respectively.
Similarly, Hustlers crushed Mocha-A 3-0. Kwame Holder recorded a brace in the fourth and 17th minute while Sunil Logan scored in the 15th minute.
Also, ESPN dismantled Parfait Hardball 4-0. Pernell Schultz bagged a (GG) in the 18th minute, while Trevon and sibling Kevon Lythcott scored in the 14th and 17th minute.
Rising Stars edged Zeelugt 1-0. Eon King found the back of the net in the 13thminute. In other results, Dream Team needled Harmony Warriors 1-0. Orville Stewart found the back of the net in the 14th minute.
West Side Ballers downed Patentia Money Team 1-0 on penalty kicks, after regulation and normal time ended 2-2.
Kevin Frank recorded a ‘Guinness Goal’ (GG) [goal scored in the final three minutes of the match is counted as two] in the 32nd minute for West Side Ballers.
Kenton Boyce equalised for Patentia Money Team via a 34th minute (GG). Meanwhile, Boom-Bang defeated Up-Like-7 2-1 on penalty kicks, following a scoreless normal and extra time intervals.
Ballers Empire edged Brothers United 2-0 on penalty kicks, after normal and extra time ended scoreless.
