An East Ruimveldt mason is now a remanded prisoner after being accused of possession of over two pounds of ganja.
It is alleged that Akeem George on February 9th, at East Ruimveldt, had 1,239 grammes of cannabis in his possession for trafficking.
George pleaded not guilty to the charge after he was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.
The prosecutor objected to bail being granted, while noting that no special reasons were given for George to be released. The court also heard that the accused admitted to being the owner of the cannabis.
The Chief Magistrate subsequently remanded the man to prison and adjourned the matter until February 28th, when it will be heard before Magistrate Fabayo Azore
